There's no guarantees they'll run well though. You could also try using Crossover (or maybe free alternatives like WineskinServer, or PlayOnMac on an Intel Mac) to install Steam in a Wine Bottle and then try The Sims games in that. If your MacBook Pro is an Intel model then using Bootcamp to install Windows is likely to be your best option to run them through Steam. According to the applegamingwiki, they work OK via Rosetta on M1 Macs if your MacBook Pro is an Apple Silicon one. That's a shame given you've bought them already at some point on Steam. MacBooks aren’t built for gaming and Sims are notorious for frying computers (God, my younger self completely fried my family’s computer by trading Sims 2 expansion packages with my friends and downloading every single expansion onto it!) so just be careful and really just stick with 2-3 expansions, and maybe add a few mods that helps clearing unnecessary storage in the game.If you're really keen to play The Sims and don't mind paying for them again then Sims 3 & 4 are both available for Mac via EA's Origin store. That being said I do still think you need to be really careful with downloading sims on it, especially if you want to preserve the laptop and make sure it lasts for many years forward. Especially if you’re planning on regularly using it outside of Sims such as anything school/work related or playing other games on it.Įdit: I was wrong, apparently most of the MacBook laptops does have fans but it’s a built in ventilation. Really just pick the expansions you’re the most interested in and get those instead of every single one. Not sure about the computers though, never had one of those but it should probably be alright with 2-3 expansions if it’s a computer. Is it a Mac laptop or a Mac computer? I believe if it’s a laptop it might even struggle with the original sims 3 since the MacBooks doesn’t have a fan like a regular PC has so it will most likely get extremely overheated. My laptop is running nicely so far with these expansions but even though I’d like two more I won’t do it since it would make the loading much much slower, poor graphics and the game would most likely crash a lot more which I feel really ruins the whole sims experience. I got a new gaming laptop earlier this year and have only dared to download three expansions and one add on. Ugh I’d honestly be really scared downloading ALL expansions onto a new Mac.
